It Ain't What You Got, It's What You Make

Sitting down for the first time in a bit to collect my thoughts.

As the Zed*80 project begins to grow into itself, these personal posts will become fewer and further between, but writing this one feels right.

After the friends and family event on Thursday, and a sold out soft launch the next two nights, the tools are being put back into their respective cases, and the detritus of what was an active construction site is fading away. There’s still so much work and improvements to do, and in time they will all be done.

Writing this I think back to November 2016, when the first Tilt opened; the anxiety and excitement. Would this business work? Would the dream and vision that we had be realized or would we all be looking for jobs with empty bank accounts a few months down the line?

The response to what we built was incredible, and to quote my man Craigwe couldn’t have done this if it wasn’t for you’. So if you’re reading this and you’ve been to and support Tilt; thank you, thank you so very much, because this thing we do; ‘we do with so much joy’.

Since that day in November, it’s been an unforgettable, unpredictable, crushing, exhilarating and memorable ride. To say that there were setbacks and disappointments would be an understatement, but there were so many high’s, friendships formed and a community built, and in the end it seems to have mostly worked out.

Zed*80 is a different project, for me, it’s the realization of a dream that I’ve been working towards for the better part of my thirties. Sure, it’s an arcade (and a pretty kick-ass one at that), but I want this to be more than that, a place that brings together a diverse group of people and one where a community can form and grow around it.

So stay tuned to this site, the social medias etc….and you’ll start to see just how we plan on doing that.

I hope you pay us a visit, and feel the love, care and dedication we put into it.

It ain’t what you got, it’s what you make.
